I have known Bob Parcell for many years. Bob is an honest, dedicated, hard-working citizen.
He has the education (a masters degree in human resources management from Pepperdine University), training and experience to make him an exceptional Missoula County Sheriff. His experience as a colonel (senior officer) in the United States Marine Corps gives him remarkable and unique leadership skills that are unmatched by his opponents.
While serving in Iraq as director of Iraqi Security Forces in Al Anbar Province, Bob Parcell's mission was to help bring order to a country that has known only chaos for many decades. The challenges of that assignment are unparalleled. He served with compassionate leadership and empathy for the people during changing times. He has the ability to really listen to the needs of others and make wise, informed and thoughtful decisions.
His nearly 30 years with Missoula County Sheriff's Office gives him the insights needed to lead the department into the future. His service has been distinguished with a Purple Heart, Armed Action Medal and Life-Saving Ribbon. Because he has experienced so many of the perils and challenges that law enforcement officers face, he will be able to support and guide our deputies with understanding.
Prior to serving with the sheriff's office, Parcell was a smokejumper and firefighter with the U.S. Forest Service. Through this experience he gained the knowledge of how to respond to natural events that could threaten Missoula County residents. He also learned how to assist and coordinate with local, state and federal agencies that have protection responsibilities.
Parcell values communication and cooperation with the citizens he serves. In short, he will make an outstanding sheriff of Missoula County.
