We have been hardcore Griz fans for a very long time.
I was in the stands the first time Jordan Johnson picked up the ball as quarterback. After watching him for a bit, I asked who in the he-- let that kid on the field. When they named him starting quarterback the following year, I asked if our coaches were out of their minds. I will now apologize to you, Jordan Johnson, as you have shown your determination and abilities tenfold since that time. You have been down a hard road, but have stuck with it and given the fans more than they could have ever wished for. God bless you in whatever you do next.
Then there is Mick Delaney. I was raised in Whitehall, and he was from Butte. I met the man a couple of times back then and didn’t like him much for several reasons. When he came to coach the Griz, I was iffy at best about his abilities. All I can say is that I have been wrong a lot lately, and once again apologize. You have been the most calming force our team could have had in the past three years. I highly respect and admire you for that. Best of luck in your retirement.
To every single player on the football team, each one of you has made a contribution to the team. Your struggles and determination to get to where you are now is amazing. You are all very awesome people as well as football players, and we admire each one of you, from freshmen to seniors.
Whether you win or lose this weekend is far less important that the fact that you have given your fans the most important thing you can give – all out effort. Good luck and bless you all.
