I am in full agreement with your editorial in the May 14 Missoulian regarding expansion of the City of Missoula's police jurisdiction to outlying areas, as Chief Muir's proposal simply makes good sense on all levels.
Unfortunately, you did not have your "facts" right about the fencing of the access to the beach when you stated that "... one property owner there responded to continued problems with illegal activity by fencing off private land, leaving the Clark Fork River and its beach accessible only via the steep trail that hugs Bandmann Bridge."
The facts of this situation were accurately stated by your own Rob Chaney in his article in the May 5 Missoulian, where he stated: "While there is a steep trail alongside Bandmann Bridge off Deer Creek Road to the river, Jacobs allowed a much gentler route to cross his property to the beach. He also built a gate in his own chain-link fence to reach the better trail."
