Just like they tried to do with our sign ordinance, the commissioners are trying to degrade our quality of life again. This time, instead of trying to force us to accept huge billboards in our viewshed, they are now trying to force us to accept further degradation of our river.

Three days before Christmas, while most citizens are involved in the holidays or out of town, they plan to loosen our flood plain regulations so that their friends can build closer to the river.

We Ravalli County citizens currently have good flood plain regulations which protect our unique, dynamic, braided river. Loosening regulations will result in development and septic systems in the flood plain, rip rap to protect the development, more rip rap to protect downstream land owners and thus a more compromised and impaired river.

Please call or send an email right now to commissioners@rc.mt.gov, 375-6500 and tell them to leave our flood plain regulations alone! You told them to back off when they tried to change our sign ordinance. Now please tell them to back off of our river. The meeting is Monday, Dec. 22 at 9 a.m. at the commissioners' meeting room. Thank you.

Sarah and Andy Roubik,

Corvallis
