Thank you to Gary Delp of Heritage Timber for his March 5 risk-taking honesty in exposing the truth of wasted resources in the St. Francis Xavier School demolition.
Merely driving by, one can see the thousands of bricks ruined amidst the rubble. To learn that tens of thousands of feet of old timber went to the landfill is saddening and angering. I agree fully with Delp’s opinion that the Missoulian itself could have dug deeper into this interview; being “pro-business” need not mean being either naive or cavalier.
Church officials should be embarrassed, contrite and more forthcoming in the future. As a 20-year attendee of their BASH Auction, I know I will be happily in absentia this year.
