I am confused. We have our forests burning, smoke so thick you cannot see the mountains, people's houses and three brave men’s lives lost and yet there are no protests. There are no activists upset about the forest management.

And yet if a lion is shot they go crazy as if it is the end of the world. How can this be? Why are the streets not blocked with environmentalists who want to save the world?

Actually, I am not confused. It is the environmental policies that have caused the problem. Oh no, we wouldn’t want to cut down a tree. It’s natural – let it burn. Let me tell you something – a fart is natural.

Years ago we never had smoky days like we have today. Summer was something we really looked forward to – that’s why we live in Montana. But then something changed and the environmentalists starting taking over. Now you don’t see any logging trucks in town and most of the lumber industry has been destroyed.

The good news is that we do not have to live in smoke – it can be as it was in 1985 if we just take care of our forests. If we don’t – you can see the results. Nature will do our pruning for us. And the wackos complain about SUVs as they fly in their jets. How many SUVs would it take to create the smoke we have in the valley today?

Tell me the following is not true. Our current method of controlling wildfires does not work. If you always do what you always did, you’ll always get what you always got. So let’s go back to cutting trees and managing the forest as it should be. Stand up and say something – write to your congressmen.
