BUTTE - Wildlife officials are trying to eliminate three wolf packs in southwestern Montana's Big Hole Valley after repeated attacks on livestock.

Carolyn Sime, wolf program manager for Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, said federal trappers are targeting wolves from the Miner Lakes and Bender Packs, as well as any wolves that may have joined those packs from the Battlefield Pack.

Since the beginning of the year wolves have killed nine cows or calves in the Big Hole. The attacks have been concentrated on the west side of the valley.
