HELENA - Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana has decided to build a new headquarters building near the Helena airport.
The 120,000-square foot facility will house about 550 employees that have been working in two buildings in downtown Helena.
Company spokeswoman Linda McGillen says the cost of the land, the firm's ability to move there quickly, ample space for parking and the challenges of building a high-rise building in downtown Helena all contributed to the decision.
The company hopes to break ground on the new building in March and be able to move in by March 2011.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield will retain ownership of its downtown buildings and has received inquiries from potential new tenants.
