The 29-year-old Missoula woman who died in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on Homestake Pass was Josephine Smiley, according to Butte-Silver Coroner Lee LaBreche. 

Smiley was driving westbound on Interstate 90 in a 1998 gray Mazda B30 truck around 2:50 p.m. when her truck drifted off to the right side of the road.

Smiley then overcorrected and struck the end of a guardrail, causing the vehicle to roll, according to MHP. She was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected from the truck.

Smiley was pronounced dead at the scene. It was the 15th fatality on Montana roads this year.
