A Missoula woman told authorities this week that Aaron Steven Beadle, 36, only stopped attacking her after her two boys, ages 15 and 12, stepped in to protect her.
Beadle is charged in Missoula County Justice Court with aggravated assault, assault on a minor and three counts of partner-family member abuse, according to charging documents filed Wednesday.
Missoula County Sheriff's deputies responded May 13 to the Missoula home, where the woman said Beadle had been drinking and swung a fist at her because she didn't have supper ready for him on time. When her 15-year-old son tried shoving Beadle away, Beadle reportedly wrapped his arm around the youth's neck.
The teenager said as his vision was blacking out, his younger brother ran into the room and jumped on Beadle's back. The older brother said he saw Beadle fling the younger boy away, which caused some minor injuries, and then leave the residence.
The woman told deputies Beadle had choked her in the same way a few nights earlier. The boys are not Beadle's children, attorneys said at his initial appearance on Wednesday.
If convicted, Beadle could be sentenced to a maximum of 30 years in state prison.
Missoula County Justice of the Peace Alex Beal set Beadle's bond at $10,000. His next hearing is set for May 24.
