Kyrin Allen, a star defensive back for the University of Montana Western football team, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a felony charge of sexual intercourse without consent, according to Ashley Keele, victim witness assistant in Beaverhead County.

Tuesday's plea came during Allen's first appearance in District Court in Dillon to face the charge filed Dec. 6 by County Attorney Jed Fitch. As has been previously reported, prosecutors detailed the allegations in court filings earlier this month.

Allen was arrested Nov. 2 and later bonded out.

The university suspended Allen indefinitely from all athletic activities pending an outcome of the investigation.
