GREAT FALLS - A fire has destroyed the only grocery store in the tiny farming community of Geraldine in north-central Montana.
Owner Jerry Ludeman says the blaze, which was reported at about 8 p.m. Thursday, gutted the 95-year-old building in about 30 minutes. He says he and his wife have insurance and plan to rebuild because "this little town needs to have a grocery store."
Bill Courtnage, who lives about 10 miles outside of Geraldine, tells the Great Falls Tribune the loss is devastating for the town of 300 people because everyone in the area depends on the store.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
