BILLINGS - A former Yellowstone County jail nurse has acknowledged stealing prescription drugs from work and giving them to her boyfriend to sell.
Margaret Yohannes appeared in District Court on Monday and pleaded guilty to a single felony count of criminal distribution of dangerous drugs. She acknowledged that in October 2008 she gave Marco Shumpert a few tablets of the muscle relaxer clonazepam.
The 36-year-old Yohannes originally faced two felony drug distribution charges and a misdemeanor theft charge, but two of the charges will be dismissed as part of a plea agreement that recommends a three-year sentence to the state Department of Corrections.
Authorities say Shumpert sold the drugs to an undercover drug agent. A warrant has been issued for his arrest for failing to appear for sentencing in January. He has pleaded guilty to selling the medication.
