The Montana House has adjourned at the midway point of the 2019 Legislative session after a marathon floor session Thursday left legislators with about 30 minutes of work Friday.

Speaker of the House Greg Hertz, a Republican from Polson, commended the House for its work during the first 45 days and told legislators to get ready for looming debates in the second half of the session over Medicaid expansion, infrastructure proposals and the state budget.

Early in the session, the House passed an education funding bill that gives a $77 million inflationary increase to K-12 schools, something that in past sessions has been held up by partisan debate. Gov. Steve Bullock has signed that bill.

A bill to give state employees a pay raise also cleared the House and is heading for Bullock's desk.
