University of Montana distance runner Lynn Reynolds placed eighth in the steeplechase at the 2008 USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships Sunday afternoon at Columbus, Ohio.
The three-day championship was the national qualifying meet for the 2008 IAAF World Junior Championships which will take place at Bydgoszcz, Poland in July.
The top four finishers in the steeplechase, which had 22 competitors, became eligible for national team consideration.
Reynolds, who recently completed his freshman season with the Grizzlies, finished in a time of 9:22.79.
BYU's Curtis Carr won the event in a time of 8:55.64.
The fourth-place finisher, Nebraska's David Adams, finished in a time of 9:07.16.
Reynolds was second in the steeplechase at the Big Sky Conference Outdoor Championships in Sacramento, Calif., in May with a personal-best time of 9:06.43.
He placed 13th in the event at the NCAA Midwest Region Championships in Lincoln, Neb., later in the month with a time of 9:13.78.
Eastern Washington's Amanda Peterson and Montana State's Asa Staven also represented the Big Sky Conference last weekend. Peterson was sixth in the javelin with a throw of 152-10, while Staven was seventh in the decathlon with a score of 6,614.
