HELENA - Reports of a man waving a gun at traffic in Helena ended safely after police realized the man's weapon was only a toy.

Police Lt. Steve Hagen says the department got a call Wednesday evening from a resident who said a man was waving a handgun at traffic on a local street. Hagan says officers who responded asked the man to drop his weapon but it took him about two minutes to comply.

Hagen says the officers had drawn their own weapons, but didn't fire - and they realized as they handcuffed the man that the handgun was just a realistic-looking toy.

Hagen says no crime was committed and no charges will be filed.
