Police are investigating a series of vandalism to 25 downtown Helena locations, including the 1800s trolley car on the Last Chance Gulch Walking Mall.
Several fences and garage doors, the mural at Performance Square and many other buildings in the area were also among the locations tagged with a similar design during the last several days. All of the recent vandalism was found within about a mile of the Walking Mall.
Helena's Assistant Police Chief Steve Hagen said it will cost more than $1,500 to clean up the graffiti, which makes the vandalism a felony, but the cost to Helena is not just monetary.

“It’s more about what it looks like to the community, rather than the cost,” he said.
Authorities are working to review any video footage that may have been captured on security cameras in the area, Hagen said.
Anyone with information about the vandalism is encouraged to call the Helena Police Department at 406-442-3233, or Crimestoppers at 406-443-2000 to remain anonymous.
