POLSON - Lake County officials had few details to release late in the day after being called early Monday morning to the scene of what investigators termed a "suspicious death" in Ferndale.

Officers discovered the body of a male at the scene after receiving a report of an "incident" at 5:38 a.m.

Sheriff Lucky Larson said he had nothing further to add to a two-paragraph press release that said his office "is currently investigating a suspicious death in the Ferndale area."

The press release said three detectives, three deputies, County Attorney Mitch Young and a deputy county attorney were all still at the scene. Larson, who was also at the scene earlier in the day, said he would not release any other details until those people returned and he could confer with them.

The press release said interviews and scene processing were still in progress.

Ferndale is a small community just east of Bigfork and Montana Highway 35. The county line dividing Flathead and Lake counties runs through the town.

The man reportedly died just inside the Lake County line.
