BOZEMAN- A 31-year-old Livingston man has been arrested after a Bozeman-area campground robbery and stabbing that left the victim needing abdominal surgery.

David Shepard was jailed without bail after being charged with assault with a weapon and aggravated burglary for an attack Wednesday night at a campground in Hyalite Canyon.

Gallatin County officials say a woman reported that she and her boyfriend were shot at after confronting a man they suspected of stealing items from their camper. She says her boyfriend was stabbed as they retrieved items from the suspect's pickup truck.

The woman gave authorities a description of the suspect, his vehicle and his license plate number. Shepard was stopped by the Montana Highway Patrol.
