GREAT FALLS - Malmstrom Air Force Base will have 48 more civilian employees starting this fall, but most of the increase will come when jobs done by private contractors are converted to Department of Defense employment.
Montana Sen. Max Baucus and Jon Tester announced the jobs Tuesday.
Malmstrom spokeswoman 2nd Lt. Marshel Slater says the specifics of what positions are being converted to civilian defense workers at Malmstrom are not known yet. She says they are among about 4,500 positions will be converted to defense civilians nationwide.
Tester's says Malmstrom has 3,149 military personnel, 619 direct civilian employees and hundreds of private contractor employees.
