BILLINGS - A 48-year-old man who said he was tied up and thrown into the Yellowstone River told a judge Thursday he had fired his attorney and wanted to withdraw his plea to an unrelated felony arson charge.
Lionell Scott Ellison, of Billings, was set to be sentenced by District Judge Susan Watters after he previously pleaded no contest to lighting a car on fire last year. His sentencing had been scheduled for last Thursday, but the hearing was delayed after Ellison was found shivering on the riverbank the day before.
Ellison told investigators he was abducted by two men, who bound his wrists and ankles and threw him in the river. Yellowstone County Sheriff's Lt. Ron Wilson said Thursday the report remains under investigation and no arrests have been made.
Watters scheduled a hearing in two weeks and told Ellison he had that long to hire another attorney.
