Missoula woman dies in I-90 wreck Sunday

  • 0

A 40-year-old Missoula woman died in a two-vehicle collision early Sunday morning while driving the wrong way on Interstate 90.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. when Connie Lynn Hossfeld drove her Lexus SUV west on I-90 in the eastbound lanes just west of the Orange Street exit and collided with a semi tractor-trailer, said Missoula County Sheriff Mike McMeekin.

Upon impact, both vehicles ignited in flames so hot the vehicles incinerated. Hossfeld was killed in the crash, McMeekin said, and the driver of the semi truck escaped with minor injuries.

While the case is still being investigated, it appears Hossfeld enter I-90 at the Orange Street exit by accessing the eastbound exit ramp.

The accident remains under investigation.
