HAVRE - The Montana Board of Regents has chosen Clayton Christian of Missoula as its new chairman.

Christian was selected Friday during a board meeting in Havre. He replaces Stephen M. Barrett of Bozeman, who has held the post for the past two years.

Commissioner of Higher Education Sheila Stearns says Christian has stepped into the role of leader and is currently chairing the search for a new president at the University of Montana. Christian also chaired the search for MSU's new president last year.

Janine Pease, an administrator at Fort Peck Community College, was elected vice chair - a post that had been held by Christian.
