BOZEMAN — Montana health officials have recorded 488 new cases of flu in the state during the last week of January, bringing the total to 1,486 cases.

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports the state Department of Public Health and Human Services has recorded 75 people hospitalized and two flu-related deaths so far this season.

The state has defined the flu as widespread, meaning outbreaks or increases in cases have been reported in about half the state.

Montana recorded 10,431 flu cases, 979 hospitalizations and 79 deaths last season.
