The Missoula Ranger District has rental dates available for both the Morgan-Case and the Hogback Cabins following the March 8 lottery drawings, and beginning April 1, those interested in reserving one of the cabins may visit the ranger district office or contact the Missoula Ranger District at 329-3814. The remaining rental dates will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. The Missoula Ranger District office hours are: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Morgan-Case cabin is available for 79 days (including 19 days in May and 17 days in April) this rental season (April through September). The Hogback cabin is available for 62 days for the same rental season, including 19 days in April and 16 days in May. Other available dates for both cabins are spread throughout June, July, August and September.
It’s important to note that all reservation are non-refundable.
Both cabin rentals are managed by the Missoula Ranger District under a lottery system, rather than the National Recreation Reservation system in place for many recreation sites on national forests. The lottery was established to respond to demand for the rentals and to ensure a fair process for the public.
The Hogback cabin is a rustic two-story restored cabin located 29 miles south of Interstate 90 on Rock Creek Road, with access to Hogback Creek and Rock Creek. The Morgan-Case cabin is a single story rustic cabin a mile farther south along Rock Creek Road, also restored. Both cabins are furnished, heated and equipped with cooking stoves. Guests must bring their own water, bedding and linen. Please attached photos of the cabins.
