BUTTE - A judge ordered a 51-year-old Rocker woman jailed after she showed up intoxicated for a sentencing hearing in a stabbing case.
JoAnn E. Yelloweyes was to be sentenced Wednesday for felony assault with a weapon for stabbing Richard Puckett in the chest in Rocker last Sept. 1.
Deputy Butte-Silver Bow County Attorney Mike Clauge told the judge he was concerned that Yelloweyes appeared confused and may not be competent to proceed with the sentencing. A breath test determined Yelloweyes had a blood-alcohol level of 0.213, nearly three times the limit at which a person is considered legally drunk.
District Judge Brad Newman postponed the hearing until next Tuesday and ordered Yelloweyes jailed until then.
