GREAT FALLS - NorthWestern Energy said a squirrel that got into a substation on the south side of Great Falls is to blame for knocking out power to 5,100 customers.

Company spokeswoman Claudia Rapkoch said the critter caused the power outage at about 1:25 p.m. Friday. Electricity was restored about 15 minutes later.

About 8,000 Great Falls customers had their power knocked out last month under similar circumstances.
