GREAT FALLS - A 19-year-old Washington, D.C., man has pleaded guilty to impersonating an FBI agent and saying he had a gun in his carry-on bag to see how personnel at Great Falls International Airport would respond.
Malik Hannabal Shabazz was arrested on March 5 as he was headed home for spring break from the University of Great Falls, where he was studying criminal justice. An investigation determined that Shabazz did not have a gun.
He pleaded guilty to false impersonation of an officer of the United States during a hearing Tuesday before U.S. District Judge Sam Haddon.
Shabazz remains in custody and sentencing is set for Aug. 26.
