A 15-year-old boy was hospitalized Thursday with non-life-threatening injuries after he was run down at a crosswalk on Orange Street.

The teen was attempting to cross from the northwest corner of Orange and South First Street West shortly after 3 p.m. According to Missoula police, vehicles in both southbound lanes stopped for him, as did a truck in the left northbound lane.

“A woman driving a Ford pickup approached in the northbound left lane and passed the truck on its passenger side,” police spokesman Sgt. Scott Pastian said. “She didn’t see the pedestrian as he emerged from in front of the stopped truck.”

The report didn’t note the speed of the pickup at impact. The boy, whose identity wasn’t released, was admitted to St. Patrick Hospital. City fire, six police cars and three emergency medical units responded to the scene.
