U.S. Highway 93 was closed for nearly two hours on Wednesday night after several vehicles slid off the road about a mile south of Lolo. It was reopened at about 9:10 p.m.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service issued a severe winter storm warning for 11 a.m. Thursday to 11 p.m. Friday covering western Montana. Heavy snow and wind were expected to create dangerous driving conditions in Missoula, Ravalli, Lake, Flathead and Sanders and Mineral counties.

Twelve to 18 inches of snow are expected in the mountains, with 6 to 10 inches predicted for the valleys.
