HELENA — A psychological evaluation has found a woman is not competent to stand trial on charges that she shot and killed her estranged husband and another woman in Helena last fall.
The Independent Record reported Thursday that Michelle Coller Gable was evaluated after an apparent second suicide attempt at the Lewis and Clark County jail.
Gable's attorney, Randi Hood, is asking that Gable be declared incompetent and sent to the Montana State Hospital at Warm Springs.
Hood told the court Gable threw herself off the second tier of the jail pod, breaking her heel, cracking or breaking vertebrae in her lower back and injuring her lungs.
Lewis and Clark County attorney Leo Gallagher says he is negotiating for another evaluation.
Gable is charged in the October shooting deaths of Joseph Gable and Sunday Bennett.
