BILLINGS - A 52-year-old food service employee accused of smuggling items into the Dawson County prison has been charged with a dozen felonies.
Sharon Kay Pearce of Glendive is charged with 12 counts of transferring illegal articles into the facility between November and February. She is accused of smuggling a cell phone, cell phone charger, tobacco and beverages into the prison for inmate use, as well as carrying letters out of the prison and making phone calls on behalf of inmates.
The facility, which combines a prison and jail, was put into lockdown Feb. 20 to allow authorities to search for contraband. The lockdown ended two days later for a portion of the building.
