BILLINGS - Yellowstone County officials say two men were killed when their small plane crashed about 25 miles southeast of Billings.
Undersheriff Seth Weston said there were no signs of survivors at the crash scene.
The Cessna 182 left Sheridan, Wyo., at about 11 a.m. Tuesday and was reported overdue by a family member Tuesday afternoon, the Montana Department of Transportation said.
The plane was registered to Fred Wallis, a Lavina-area rancher. Two people were on board, said Mike Fergus, spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration.
Brendy Patterson of Wells Built Homes in Billings identified the men as Wallis, a plumbing subcontractor for Wells Built, and Scott Shimamoto, a project manager. Patterson told The Billings Gazette that the men had been doing some last-minute work on a house they helped build in Sheridan, Wyo.
