“Chokecherry bandages” are not very effective relief for cuts to Medicaid. ("No more Testicle Festival; Medicaid cuts; rape prevention at UM; Dems boycott committee," Missoulian editorial, April 27).
Once again, the Missoulian does its part to inform citizens who can speak up for change. Right now Congress is deciding budget matters for the coming year. Cuts to Medicaid and SNAP (formerly food stamps) are being seriously considered. With the recent loss of hospital jobs due to Medicaid cuts and the fact that one in five children live in poverty, further cuts would result in further job losses and more hungry children.
Call, write or visit those who represent you in Congress and ask them to fully fund these important programs and work to end the causes of hunger in the world’s richest country.
