Last week was magical. I saw bodies soar from exhilaration, fold in desperation and contort in pain. I saw love, cuteness and the pure joy of movement. I saw bodies suspended in time, recoil, unwind and reach out for help. I witnessed the human struggles and sheer beauty. I took it all in. I smiled, I cried, I laughed out loud. I felt my soul healing.
Ballet Beyond Borders was inspiring, and not only to me. My daughter presented a dance that she choreographed herself. Her dance was not selected for the finals. I feared she would be crushed. This was without counting for the incredible creativity that exudes from BBB. That night, she was selecting her music and starting to choreograph her dance for next year. This is what artistic inspiration looks like.
BBB is everything that Missoula does best: a few extremely dedicated people brought to us an incredible artistic experience. The people at Rocky Mountain Ballet Theatre deserve recognition for their tremendous work. I want to openly thank Charlene, Karen, Jennifer, Dana and all the others behind the scenes, for all they do, as well as the sponsors, for making it possible. I am looking forward to next January for more magic.
