Forest fires are not increasing because of environmentalism. They are increasing due to human-caused climate change and centuries of policy — public, private and nonpartisan — which clearcut rich, diverse forests, replacing them with monoculture forests, while underfunding for controlled burns, and underutilizing thinning and brush-clearing operations.

Basically, it's because we wrecked the environment, not because we care about it too much.
