Thomas Parker of Ronan

Thomas Parker of Ronan takes first place in the half marathon wheelchair division.

What’s the significance of the Fourth of July? Look on page C8 of the Monday, July 1 paper. The young man in the wheelchair missing both legs and most of one hand is Tomy Parker of Ronan. His sacrifice as a Marine in Afghanistan and the sacrifice of thousands like him give us the freedoms we cherish.

This Fourth of July, don’t take a knee to our symbol of freedom, stand tall and thank Tomy Parker and those like him.

Pete Lawrenson,

Darby
