To argue, as the National Rifle Association and their loyal congressmen do, that any regulation on firearms violates the Second Amendment is obviously self-serving and detrimental to our society.
Firearms are already regulated. The Thompson sub-machine gun, shoulder-mounted rocket launchers, light canons and other military-grade weapons have been banned from private ownership for years. Assault-style rifles and other semi-aoutomatic weapons should join this list.
All guns should be registered, and the maximum limit on the number of firearms a person can poses should also be limited.
The NRA and the elected officials whom they support, and who support them in return, have the blood of innocents on their hands.
Your right to own a gun does not supersede the right of the rest of society to feel secure in public places.
