As a firearms owner and active big game hunter for more than 55 years, the right to own firearms is important to me.
Recently, I saw a Greg Gianforte television ad attacking Kathleen Williams’ position on firearms. A pistol-packing young woman claimed that if Williams is elected as Montana’s congressional representative, she would take away her right to defend herself. Not only is this misleading, it is completely false!
I have gotten to know Williams during her campaign, and have had in-depth conversations with her about her position on firearms ownership. Williams is a firearms owner, hunter and avid supporter of our public lands and wildlife. And like me and many of my hunting companions, she supports common-sense laws to help curb the growing firearms violence — especially school shootings. She does not advocate for laws that would prohibit honest, mentally competent, law-abiding citizens from owning firearms for sporting use or personal protection.
Do not let Gianforte’s misleading ads dissuade you from voting for Williams. Montana sportsman can count on Kathleen Williams to stand up for your rights to hunt, fish and recreate on our public lands ― and to legally own firearms for personal protection.
