Harlequin ducks at Glacier-ir

One of three harlequin ducks captured in the first round of trapping last week is entangled in a net that was stretched over McDonald Creek. The birds tend to stay close to water, including during flight. That tendency makes is possible for them to be trapped and then banded.

A presentation on a Harlequin duck migration and connectivity presented by Chris Hammond of Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks will be held at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 19 at Opportunity Resources, Inc., 2821 Russell St.

The presentation is sponsored by the Shining Mountains Chapter of Montana Wilderness Association.

The event is open to the public with no charge.
