The Missoula Osprey and Orem Owlz end their season series on Wednesday, but don't worry, the real battle is just heating up.
We're talking about the head-to-head contest between Missoula outfielder Socrates Brito and former Owlz shortstop Caleb Bushyhead, who was just promoted to the Cedar Rapids Kernels this past weekend.
In case you haven't heard, Minor League Baseball is conducting its sixth annual Moniker Madness contest, which basically seeks to find the player with the best name in all of the minor leagues.
The contest, which started with 64 players, is now into the Sweet 16 round. Bushyhead, a No. 1 seed, is going up against Brito, who earned a No. 4 seed for contest purposes. Who do you think will win?
To vote for Brito, or Bushyhead for that matter, go to this website or cut and paste this address: http://www.milb.com/milb/fans/moniker_madness/y2012/index.jsp
Bushyhead advanced to the third round by beating Boomer Potts, while Brito topped Brian Dinkelman in second-round voting.
Some other names still alive in the contest: Kevin Quackenbush, Bear Bay, Duke von Schamann, Rock Shoulders, Scooter Gennett, Zelous Wheeler, Tuffy Gosewisch and my favorite Rougned Odor.
