GENEVA, Ill. (AP) -- Jasrado Chisholm hit a two-run homer in the third inning, leading the Kane County Cougars to a 6-2 win over the Cedar Rapids Kernels on Wednesday.
The home run by Chisholm scored Jancarlos Cintron to give the Cougars a 2-1 lead.
After Kane County added a run in the fourth on a single by Luis Lara, the Kernels cut into the deficit in the fifth inning when Andrew Bechtold drew a bases-loaded walk, scoring Jordan Gore.
The Cougars later added a run in the fifth and two in the sixth. In the fifth, Renae Martinez hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Chisholm, while Cintron and Martinez both drove in a run in the sixth.
Cedar Rapids missed an additional scoring opportunity in the fifth, when Jean Carlos Arias flew out with the bases loaded to end the inning.
Kane County left-hander Mack Lemieux (2-5) picked up the win after allowing two runs on six hits over five innings. Opposing starter Brusdar Graterol (2-2) took the loss in the Midwest League game after giving up three runs and five hits over four innings. Carlos Bustamante pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings for his third save of the season.
For the Kernels, Jose Miranda doubled and singled twice.
