CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) -- Luke Williams homered and had two hits, and Mauricio Llovera struck out nine hitters over six innings as the Clearwater Threshers defeated the Tampa Tarpons 4-3 on Wednesday.

Ismael Cabrera got Diego Castillo to fly out with runners on first and third to end the game for his first save of the season.

Llovera allowed one run and three hits while walking one.

With the game tied 1-1 in the eighth, Tampa took the lead when Alexander Palma hit an RBI single and then scored on a double by Isiah Gilliam.

Clearwater answered in the bottom of the frame, scoring three runs to take the lead for good. Adam Haseley hit an RBI single, driving in Raul Rivas en route to the one-run lead.

JD Hammer (1-1) got the win in relief while Andrew Schwaab (0-2) took the loss in the Florida State League game.

Brandon Wagner homered and singled for the Tarpons.

Clearwater improved to 4-2 against Tampa this season.
