BOZEMAN (AP) - Montana State coach Rob Ash announced Oregon quarterback Cody Kempt has signed scholarship papers to transfer to MSU.

Kempt, whose father played for the Bobcats from 1985-89, redshirted at Oregon in 2006 and played sparingly last fall, completing six passes for 52 yards. He also rushed eight times for 21 yards.

As a senior at Westview High in Beaverton, Ore., Kempt completed 55 percent of his passes, and threw for 1,800 yards and 23 touchdowns. He accumulated over 4,000 total yards as a junior and senior.

Ash said Kempt is familiar with the Bobcat program and the type of offense MSU runs. He said Kempt is transferring because he wants a chance to play more.

Kempt's father, Mychal, played linebacker for the Bobcats.
