BRIEFS: Oregon QB transferring to Montana St.

BOZEMAN (AP) - Montana State coach Rob Ash announced Oregon quarterback Cody Kempt has signed scholarship papers to transfer to MSU.

Kempt, whose father played for the Bobcats from 1985-89, redshirted at Oregon in 2006 and played sparingly last fall, completing six passes for 52 yards. He also rushed eight times for 21 yards.

As a senior at Westview High in Beaverton, Ore., Kempt completed 55 percent of his passes, and threw for 1,800 yards and 23 touchdowns. He accumulated over 4,000 total yards as a junior and senior.

Ash said Kempt is familiar with the Bobcat program and the type of offense MSU runs. He said Kempt is transferring because he wants a chance to play more.

Kempt's father, Mychal, played linebacker for the Bobcats.

Montana-Western signs Idaho golfer

DILLON (AP) - Montana Western golf coach Mike Crosser has announced the signing of Jimmy Stoker of Soda Springs, Idaho.

Stoker finished sixth at the 2008 Idaho A-2 golf championship, helping his team to its second state title in three years.

Crosser said Stoker comes from one of the best high school programs and is a hard worker.

Stoker also was a three-year letterman in basketball.

Embry-Riddle signs Anaconda wrestler

BUTTE (AP) - Anaconda wrestler Clark Hensley has signed a letter of intent to compete at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Ariz.

Hensley finished third at 160 pounds at the state Class A wrestling tournament this winter and was third at 145 pounds as a junior. He also competed in state as a sophomore.

Hensley also played football and ran track for the Copperheads and plays American Legion baseball.
