Former Montana State linebacker Alex Singleton celebrates Calgary's Grey Cup victory in November.

Alex Singleton, a former star linebacker at Montana State, earned another NFL shot when he signed a reserve/futures contract with the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday.

Singleton most recently spent three seasons in the CFL with the Calgary Stampeders. He was named the league's defensive MVP after the 2017 season, and helped Calgary win the Grey Cup this past season, a 27-16 victory over Ottawa on Nov. 25.

During his time at MSU (2011-14), Singleton amassed 269 total tackles and 37.5 tackles for loss. He was named first-team All-Big Sky and third-team All-America, as well as the Bobcats' defensive MVP, following his senior season.

After exhausting his eligibility at Montana State following the 2014 season, Singleton was originally signed by the Seahawks in 2015 as a rookie free agent, though he was later released. Other NFL opportunities also did not pan out.

Singleton helped MSU win two of three its consecutive Big Sky championships from 2010-12.
