Grizzlies’ Kistler receives preseason honor

Fourteen players from the Big Sky Conference were named preseason All-Americans by the Sports Network on Monday, but just one from the University of Montana.

Guard Danny Kistler, a 6-foot-8, 315-pound junior from Seattle, was named to the second team on offense.

Three players from Montana State were honored: tackle Zach Minter was named to the first team on offense, linebacker Jody Owens was named to the second team on defense, and quarterback DeNarius McGhee was named to the third team on offense.

League newcomer Southern Utah landed two players on the first team offense – quarterback Brad Sorensen and center Gavin Farr. The T-Birds also placed tackle Cody Larsen on the second team defense and guard Zach Brackus on the third team offense.

Eastern Washington wide receiver Nicholas Edwards was named to the first team offense and fellow wide receiver Brandon Kaufman was named to the third team.

Portland State landed place-kicker Zach Brown on the first team. Idaho State is represented by wide receiver Rodrick Rumble on the second team, Northern Colorado landed linebacker Clarence Bumpas on the second team and UC Davis center Ray Wilburn made the third team.
