The Montana women's basketball team ranked 38th in the nation in 2009-10 home attendance with an average of 3,149 fans per game, the NCAA released this week.

The Lady Griz sold more than 44,000 tickets last winter to once again lead the Big Sky Conference. Montana averaged better than 3,000 fans per game for the 11th straight year and for the 19th time in the last 20 years.

Montana's only dip below the 3,000-fan mark the last two decades came in 1998-99 when it played its home games at Missoula Sentinel before an average crowd of 2,170.

The Lady Griz drew better than all but three Big Sky Conference men's programs: Weber State (5,310), Montana State (3,389) and the Griz (3,382).

Montana went 11-3 at Dahlberg Arena this past winter, giving longtime coach Robin Selvig a home record of 442-48 (.902) in his 32 seasons at Montana. The Lady Griz drew better than 4,000 fans for their final three home games against Portland State (4,219), Eastern Washington (4,002) and Montana State (4,283).
