BOZEMAN - Montana State football coach Rob Ash says running back Ricky Evans is leaving the team for personal reasons.
Ash said Thursday that Evans would finish out the semester on scholarship at MSU and then will be transferring.
Evans finished the 2009 season with 17 carries for 72 yards and one catch for 15 yards in nine games. He also was a contributor on special teams, but fell behind Aaron Mason, C.J. Palmer and Blayde Becksted on the Bobcat depth chart.
Mason has exhausted his eligibility, but Ash signed another running back that he has said will at least contend for playing time this fall.
Evans did not take part in MSU's first spring practice Wednesday due to a knee injury.
