MISSOULA – The University of Montana has named Charlie Woida as director of the university’s Athletic Performance Center.
Woida takes over the duties of former director Scott Kirchmann, whose contract was not renewed following the 2011-12 school year. Woida has been assistant director for the past two years.
He says he enjoys working with college athletes year-round and using their competitiveness to push each other.
Woida received his bachelor’s degree in fitness management from Northern State in Aberdeen, S.D., in 2006, where he played baseball after two years of playing junior college football and baseball. He received his master’s degree in exercise science from North Dakota State in 2008.
Woida has worked in strength and conditioning for the San Diego Padres and at North Dakota State, Minnesota, South Dakota State and Colorado State.
