University of Montana volleyball player Jaimie Thibeault, a two-time first team All-Big Sky Conference selection, earned a spot in the Canadian national team program.
A senior this fall, Thibeault is from Red Deer, Alberta. She attended the National Women's Open High Performance Camp May 2-4 at the University of Manitoba and later was invited to the 2010 National Women's Selection Camp May 5-8.
Just 29 players were selected from the selection camp for an "A" team and "B" team to represent the country.
Thibeault will train with the B team through July 24, six hours a day, six days a week. The A team, which took 11 of the top 29 players will represent Team Canada at the 2010 FIVB World Championships.
"Ever since I was a little girl I told my dad my goal is to one day play for my country, and now I've done it," the 6-foot-2 middle blocker said. "Most of the girls who made the A team play professionally around the world. It showed me how much I still need to improve, but I know I'm still young."
Last year, Thibeault won a bronze medal at the Canada Games playing for Team Alberta.
